Running from January 8th-29th, this class series teaches trial attorneys how to leverage the meditative art of improvisation as a powerful tool in the courtroom. Improv training strengthens skills that are essential for lawyers: thinking on your feet, communicating clearly, and staying calm and present in the face of the unexpected.

No acting or performing skills are required: just a desire to trust your instincts, to learn new ways to communicate and collaborate, and to transform your approach to your work. Together, we'll learn:

  • How to stay in the moment
  • How to think on our feet & trust our instincts
  • How to communicate spontaneously and clearly
  • How to quickly collaborate with others
  • How to learn and use non-verbal communication
  • How to discover & overcome our social/emotional "blind spots"
  • How to use various kinds of listening

These classes are capped at 10 participants. By keeping our classes small, we're able to offer more opportunities for you to practice essential skills and to receive specific, personalized feedback.

Student Information

Improvisation is spontaneous. The unexpected not only CAN happen, it often DOES. Because of that, we strive to create an environment of artistic exploration and freedom in a safe and permissive atmosphere. In our studio, participants are allowed and encouraged to experiment while they learn. If we make mistakes - and we most certainly will!! - that's OK. We don’t believe that our goal is to avoid mistakes: it’s to learn from them when they occur.

Our community asks all participants & instructors to follow these simple guidelines:

* Be welcoming and kind to everyone!
* Have fun!
* Accept and celebrate differences!
* Communicate & respect boundaries in a kind way!
* Assume good intentions!
* Allow for mistakes! 👍🏼 😊

If you see something, say something. We include many opportunities to speak/share during class. If you’re uncomfortable: tell the community why or, if you prefer, speak to an instructor during a break or after class. We’re here to help you on your journey.

Please use your mouse/finger to sign below to confirm you understand and commit to these guidelines.
