Our Community Class series focuses primarily on one goal: creating a fun, no-pressure environment for people to meet, play, and form a community through the practice of improvisation! Students are welcomed, encouraged, and assisted if they wish to perform on stage, but students are never pressured or expected to perform. Instead, we place a priority on just having meaningful, weekly fun.

Our curriculum will focus primarily on intermediate-level skills:

  • Understanding story structure
  • Learning the difference between Primary & Secondary characters
  • Using the basics of space/mime work
  • Leveraging different characters to move a story forward
  • Finding and working the relationship of the characters in any scene

OUR CLASSES ARE CAPPED AT 10 PARTICIPANTS! Fewer students = more personalized feedback and time to work.

PREREQUISITES: Participants in this class series MUST have already completed our Foundations Level Class series or an introductory class series at another theater.

Why Take Classes With Us?

Our studio is founded on the belief that student progress only comes by providing clear instruction and feedback. We not only want our students learn the core skills of improvisation, we also want them to improve their skills over their time with us. Because of that, we offer learning opportunities that students won't find anywhere else. All of our students can expect to receive the following:

  1. A safe, nurturing, and supportive environment & community
  2. Just 10 students max per class so everyone gets a lot of attention
  3. Flexible class options: only purchase the number of classes you want/need
  4. Receiving coaching while most games are played & then discussing each exercise when it's completed to gage for your awareness
  5. Laying out and then discussing that week's curriculum on our blackboard
  6. Closing every class by asking each student to recognize their own wins
  7. Being invited to join our regular student showcases at the end of every class cycle
  8. Getting videos and pictures of their showcase as keepsakes and learning tools
  9. Reviewing showcase videos with teachers so the entire class can learn from their experiences
  10. Receiving long, detailed, and highly personalized notes from your teacher by email celebrating your wins during the class series and recommending skills to work on when you come back for another class with us

Student Information

Improvisation is spontaneous. The unexpected not only CAN happen, it often DOES. Because of that, we strive to create an environment of artistic exploration and freedom in a safe and permissive atmosphere. In our studio, participants are allowed and encouraged to experiment while they learn. If we make mistakes - and we most certainly will!! - that's OK. We don’t believe that our goal is to avoid mistakes: it’s to learn from them when they occur.

Our community asks all participants & instructors to follow these simple guidelines:

* Be welcoming and kind to everyone!
* Have fun!
* Accept and celebrate differences!
* Communicate & respect boundaries in a kind way!
* Assume good intentions!
* Allow for mistakes! 👍🏼 😊

If you see something, say something. We include many opportunities to speak/share during class. If you’re uncomfortable: tell the community why or, if you prefer, speak to an instructor during a break or after class. We’re here to help you on your journey.

Please use your mouse/finger to sign below to confirm you understand and commit to these guidelines.
